MINERS AT COAL-FACE SHOW CONFIDENCE IN PROPERTY
17th January 2007
West Australians working at the coal-face of the
State's economic boom - the mining industry - are showing continued
confidence in the property market snapping up investment properties
at high levels.
According to Perth buyer's agency, Property Wizards,
workers on the front-line of the resource boom are in a privileged
position to witness the strong driving forces behind WA's economy
and are moving to capitalise on solid buy and hold opportunities
in the property market.
Property Wizards managing director and buyers'
agent Liz Sterzel said increasing numbers of mining workers
were making their mark in the property market and enlisting
the help of professionals to do so.
"Miners are in the thick of the boom and
can see first hand that WA will continue running in high gear
well into the future, so they're not buying into talk of a downturn
in the property market,' she said.
"They are seeking out pockets of Perth that
are showing substantial potential and getting in - whether they
be investments or, for fly-in, fly-out workers, it may be that
they're picking up homes for their families based in the city."
Ms Sterzel said there was a strengthening trend
for mine workers to turn to buyers' agents to help them secure
outstanding properties.
"Because mine workers often operate on a
fly-in, fly-out basis, many don't have a lot of time for property
searching, so we are seeing more and more using services like
our own to make sure they stay ahead of the pack," she
said.
"Mine workers are now realising the benefits
of having an expert on their side, so they don't have to spend
family and rest time researching and trekking around a number
of unsuitable properties or get caught up in lengthy negotiating
deals."
